At North East Gymnastics Academy, Christmas is always a magical time and this year’s celebration was nothing short of spectacular. Our Christmas displays 2025 event took inspiration from the enchanting world of Wicked. With our talented gymnasts bringing the magic of both Wicked Part 1 and Wicked Part 2 to life through a dazzling combination of choreography, gymnastics, music and storytelling.
From our youngest recreational gymnasts to our elite, European-level competitors, every performer had a chance to shine on the mat. The event was a true showcase of talent, confidence, and creativity. We couldn’t be prouder of the incredible effort and energy our gymnasts poured into every moment of the show.
A Two-Part Spectacle Inspired by Wicked
This year’s Christmas display was split into two exciting acts. Each inspired by the two parts of the Wicked films. The first half of the show took audiences on a journey through the origin story of Elphaba and Glinda. Capturing the drama, power and magic of Wicked Part 1. Gymnasts performed in beautiful green and sparkling pink costumes to reflect the duality of the characters, all while delivering impressive acrobatic routines and expressive choreography.
The second half picked up where the first left off. Diving into the darker, more emotional moments of Wicked Part 2. With powerful group performances, our gymnasts told a story of courage, loyalty and standing up for what’s right. It was a bold, artistic interpretation that truly showed how our gymnasts are capable of not only executing advanced skills, but also performing with feeling and flair.
Gymnasts of All Ages Steal the Show
One of the things that made this year’s Christmas displays 2025 so special was the way it included every level of our gymnastics community. From our enthusiastic recreational gymnasts performing forward rolls and balance beam walks, to our advanced gymnasts flipping, twisting, and tumbling with breathtaking control. Each child played an important role in bringing the display to life.
This event provided a brilliant opportunity for gymnasts to showcase what they’ve been working on throughout the year, and many performed in front of a live audience for the first time. For parents, friends and family, it was a proud and emotional experience to watch children grow in confidence as they took to the floor.
Creativity, Teamwork and Confidence on Display
At North East Gymnastics Academy, we believe gymnastics is about more than just physical skill. It’s about creativity, confidence and community. Our Christmas displays 2025 brought all of those values together in one incredible event.
Each performance was the result of weeks of teamwork and rehearsals. From coordinating choreography to choosing costumes and learning how to move with purpose, our gymnasts developed new skills in performance and discipline, while having a whole lot of fun.
The display also showed how gymnastics can inspire children to express themselves through movement, build strong friendships and feel part of something truly special. It’s these experiences that help build lifelong memories and a lasting love for the sport.
Thank You to Our Coaches and Volunteers
An event like this wouldn’t be possible without the hard work and dedication of our amazing coaching team and volunteers. From planning the routines to managing rehearsals, sorting costumes and setting up the gym, every detail was handled with care and enthusiasm.
Our coaches play a key role in helping every child feel confident and ready to perform. And their encouragement behind the scenes is just as important as the skills they teach on the mat. A huge thank you also goes to the volunteers who helped make the day run smoothly and to all the families who came along to support our gymnasts.
A Final Word – We Are So Proud
We are incredibly proud of every single gymnast who took part in our Christmas displays 2025. Your energy, effort, and performances were truly magical and a joy to watch. Whether you’re just starting out or already competing on a national or international level, you’re an inspiration to us all.
Events like this remind us why we do what we do – to create a space where children can thrive, grow, and experience the joy of performing in front of a supportive audience.
